What's In My Make-up Bag: Argan Oil

Josie Maran Argan Oil
As a product enthusiast I am always looking for the latest and greatest in potions and lotions.  I'm a newcomer to the natural beauty scene and excited to see so many products.  Lately, you can't read a magazine or beauty blog without hearing about Argan Oil, the signature product from Josie Maran's eco-friendly beauty line.  Since the winter brings out the worst in my already sensitive skin, and my latest schedule leaves me more sleep deprived than ever, I was eager to try a product that promised to hydrate, brighten and soften fine lines.

The story of the oil is totally glamorous.  Maran, on a photo shoot in the South of France, spotted a gorgeous older woman and asked for her beauty secret, which turns out to be 100% pure Argan Oil.  She's been using it ever since and is beyond beautiful.  Made from the Argan tree in Morocco it's loaded with Vitamin E and fatty acids.  How could it possibly be bad??

I ordered my Argan Oil on QVC (as a former buyer for the TV retail powerhouse I'm particularly loyal to the company and find they have an amazing selection of my favorite brands at the best prices). My order came with 1.7 oz of Argan Oil and a bonus color stick in "Rosey."

Going on, it feels equal parts fabulous and odd.  Odd because I was always taught that oil was bad for skin, would clog pores and make you look and feel greasy.  Not the case.  This seeps into your skin within moments and leaves it looking dewy and soft.  To my surprise and delight it's not greasy at all.

I've been using it for 2 weeks now and am loving it.  My skin is bright and looks healthy and hydrated.  I'm also noticing a softening of some new lines around my eyes.  It layers nicely under make up.  The only downside is that  you still need to apply a daily SPF and I prefer to have as few products as possible.  That being said, it's well worth adding the extra step.

The bonus color stick is pretty fantastic as well.  It gives just enough color, making you look lit from within.  I like it on low key days at home with the kids, makes me look pretty and not over done.  I've dabbed it on my lips too.  I can see buying a few of these and having them everywhere so you can easily touch up on the run.

This is a definite must try.  I'm so pleased with the results so far I am going to try her lip gloss next, which is a BIG deal since I haven't used anything other than Chanel Glossimer in ages.  It's rare, and nice, to see a product live up to all the hype.  I'm so glad I gave it a try!
